Muruga Booker

Muruga Booker, Percussion, is an American drummer, percussionist, composer, recording artist, inventor, and uncanonical Greek Orthodox priest. Muruga joined Dick Wagner for some fiery (literally on fire!) early gigs with the Bossmen. In 1969, Muruga played drums with Tim Hardin at the Woodstock Festival, where he met Yogi Swami Satchidananda, who anointed him with the name Muruga. He went on to record and tour with Weather Report and George Clinton, and became an official P-Funk All Star. He joined the Rainforest Band with Jerry Garcia, performing with on the Grammy nominated album, Blues from the Rain Forest. An inventor and painter, Muruga invented the nada drum, a variation of the talking drum
