Rachael Davis

  • by

Rachael Davis, Ukulele, Banjo, Guitar, Singer, Songwriter, Music educator: Rachael describes her unique style as “Motown Banjo,” as she gracefully unites the worlds of folk, blues, pop, and country. Born into a family of musicians and songwriters, Rachael was immersed in music from childhood. By age 8, she was performing with the family band. “I was learning everything I could get my hands on, and when I was 17, my father gave me his Bart Reiter banjo and taught me to play clawhammer style.” Releasing her debut album at age 20, Rachael headed to Boston, where she won the prestigious Boston Music Award for Best New Singer/ Songwriter. Davis has lent her voice to recordings, soundtracks, and video games, but it’s her intuitive and empathetic understanding of folk music, “the music of folks” as she calls it, that distinguish her songwriting and voice.
